The UltraDrive LE series uses SLC (Single Level Cell) technology, and will be available in capacities up to 128 GB. It offers maximum read speed of 230 Mbps and a write speed of 170Mbps. It is basically targeted towards enterprise usage.
The UltraDrive ME uses MLC (Multi Level Cell) technology, and will offer up to 256 GB of storage. The maximum read/write speed is bit slower than the LE offering 200Mbps/160Mbps respectively. The ME series is targeted for consumer usage.
Both the drives have same physical outlook as both of them are 2.5” inches SATA-II units. Super Talent commits that consumer drive or the ME series drive of 128GB will endure 50 Gigs of writing & erasing per day for over 70 years enhancing the overall life of the drive.
According to the company the drives are expected in market in the first month of 2009 but the company is not committing any price as the value of SSD’s varies very frequently. Still you can expect the UltraDrive ME of 256GB storage capacity to be available at a price tag of nearly $900 that is ~45,000 INR as per current conversion rate...
