Rockstar began working on a patch that’s released today and will automatically update the game through Games for Windows Live. Here’s what the patch brings to the table:

  • A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
  • Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better FX during replays
  • Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
  • Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
  • Overall savings to memory
  • Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
  • Multiplayer character settings are preserved
  • Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.
Issues with power management software have also been fixed (slow speed, double speed issues). Even after the patch comes out setting power management software to maximum performance is recommended. We’ve seen cases where power management software does not detect the game is running and puts the CPU in green mode.

Besides the patch we’ve also improved the way the Social Club handles data this should have greatly reduced or eliminated the MMA10 error. If you are still receiving this error after logging in and out of Social Club we would like to know as much info as you can about it.

Reports have surfaced that Sony Ericsson has signed a deal with california based GestureTek company to bring their specialized software to S.E mobiles that will turn your mobile camera into a motion-controlling sensor which could then be used as a accelerometer like in iPhone. Mobile owners will be directly able to control the on screen characters by tilting the screen in a same way we play games on Nintendo Wii.

It is also said that the software will work on both the new and old handsets having a camera and it will use the mobile camera to sense movements. The games that will support motion sensitive gaming on Sony Ericsson mobiles are Crash Banicoot and Super Monkey Ball.

If you’ve been in the gaming circuit long enough, chances are there’s at least one iteration of the Need for Speed franchise that hit the sweet spot for you. For me it was NFS 2 and Most Wanted that worked the magic. I loved the fact that they were built on simple but fundamentally strong mechanics – for instance, NFS 2 had its scenic street racing and strong racing dynamics (at least for its time) while Most Wanted used the Black list and those awesome cop chases as a pivot.

It has got Grip races, drag, drift, speed challenge. The speed challenge will really thrill you.
